We treat all uploaded work as sensitive educational data. This page explains how we handle, store, and protect that data.
Data we process
Purple Crayon processes student writing, rubric definitions, and evaluation results solely to provide our service to you. We don’t sell this data or use it to train public models.
- Uploaded documents, text, and images used for evaluation
- Rubrics and evaluation schemas you define
- Feedback and scores generated by the system
- Basic account and usage information for educators and TAs
Storage & security
We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access to your data is restricted to the educators and administrators you authorize.
- All requests are served over HTTPS
- Data is stored in secure, access-controlled environments
- Access is logged and audited for security purposes
Your controls
You can delete evaluation data, adjust retention policies, or request exports at any time. For institutional agreements, we’re happy to work with your data protection officer.
